Domaine de Palatz will be opening its doors on April 1st to welcome you for a new season in sunny Languedoc.
Opening Promotion
We are now accepting reservations for 2014, and in celebration of the new season, we’re running an opening promotion over the month of April: stay in our chambres d’hote for two nights and get a third absolutely free!
All our chambres d’hote bookings also include a hearty organic breakfast to set you up properly for the day. And there’s plenty of things to do – April is the perfect time for some sightseeing on the back of a bicycle or horse, particularly if you want to explore the many regional tourist attractions before the crowds arrive. It’s also great for a spot of golf: Carcassonne Golf Course is only twenty minutes away. This 18-hole international standard course has magnificent panoramic views and is renowned for the excellent quality of its fairways and the speed of its greens.
Close by is the famous Cathar fortress, Chateaux de Lastours. The shady banks of the Canal du Midi are great for a cycle, or perhaps you head down the road to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Albi and its cathedral (or is it a fortress!?). Nimes and Montpellier are also close by, and of course you must let yourself be tempted by the pleasures of the palate: the great wines and gastronomy of the Aude, in the heart of the largest, oldest vineyards in France!
And then of course there’s Carcassonne (20 minutes away), the largest walled city in Europe, with the fascinating mediaeval ‘La Cité’ (another UNESCO World Heritage site). Set high up on a hill, Carcassonne’s ancient walled city really is one of a kind. This magnificent collection of drawbridges, towers and atmospheric cobbled streets was reputedly the inspiration for Walt Disney’s The Sleeping Beauty, and is a must-see on any trip through this part of southern France. Despite its fairy-tale appearance, Carcassonne has all the conveniences of a modern city with shops of every kind, plus supermarkets, cinemas, an abundance of fine restaurants, and plenty of activities.
Come celebrate the re-opening of Domaine de Palatz this April: book now!
We stayed at Domaine de Palatz last August for 2 weeks and had a wonderful time. We are considering returning this summer. But … have you planned or are you undertaking any renovations or updates of the gites – particularly in respect of the drainage system?
Hi Diane. Glad to hear you had a great stay here last Summer. We’ve only recently taken over Domaine de Palatz and are in the process of making comprehensive renovations to the grounds and all of the estate buildings on a room by room basis. We would love to welcome you back again this year, so if you could drop me a line at [email protected] and let me know which gite you stayed in, together with any further info on your experience, I can advise you on whether we’ve addressed this already or if it is still on our to-do list! 🙂
