ESTATE FACILITIES
The property grounds are ideal for picnicking, long walks, and simply relaxing in beautiful natural surrounds. We have 25 acres of unspoiled countryside for guests to explore, including woodland, vineyards, a bubbling stream, landscaped garden and terraces, organic kitchen garden, shaded seating areas, and numerous romantic spots with panoramic views.
Our swimming pool is twelve metres by six metres and shared between the cottages and chambres d’hote. With underwater flood lights, it is totally enclosed for security, thus offering a sheltered haven for sunbathing, with a fully equipped pool house and terrace. There is a separate BBQ area and private covered courtyard which is perfect for al fresco dining and enjoying those long summer evenings with a glass or two. This area includes a number of dining tables to seat larger parties.
We have a small library in the stables with an eclectic mix of books, including many of the favourites for the region. You are more than welcome to borrow these throughout your stay. We also have a SONOS audio system and an extensive media library with a wide range of TV and film for you to enjoy at leisure.
Situated close to Carcassonne, Domaine de Palatz is in the heart of Cathar Country, and a wonderful place to discover new wines of the Minervois, Corbieres and Malepere. The property is close to the beautiful villages of Caunes Minervois with its famous Abbey, Minerve and its wonderful gorge, Paraza and the Canal du Midi, Narbonne the Roman capital, Cailhol with its mystery walk, and Lagrasse, the prettiest village in the Aude. Although Cathar Country is one of the few remaining unspoiled areas of South France, the region is still bustling with things to do and sights to see, all of which are covered here in more detail.
