For a fun, family day out we can definitely recommend taking a trip down the river Aude, best enjoyed by kayak!
There is a wide range of canoeing, kayaking, rafting and other boating activities in the region. Floating through the many stunning gorges is perhaps one of the must sublime ways of experiencing the beauty of Occitania. So grab your oar and let’s boat audaciously! Hire out a one- or two-man kayak, stow a picnic on board, and when you fancy a break from the natural surrounds and spectacular rock formations, moor up on a beach and kick back!
Rivers abound in Occitania, and the closest access point to us is the river Aude, a ten minute drive away. We partner with Eaurizon, a canoeing centre in nearby Puichéric that offers canoeing, kayaking, as well as rafting, canyoning and other fun activities. Embarking from here is not at all difficult – the river is relatively shallow, and any rapids are tame and family-friendly.
There are plenty of wilder water routes in the region also. A short drive into the Montagne Noire and the hills of the Haut Languedoc national park reveals something for every type of thrill seeker! If you’re looking for a more refined experience, there are also many boating options up and down the Canal du Midi, as well as along the coast – all of which make for a really fun day out!
