What’s in a Name?

Occitania is renowned for its history, but one of the things it is less well known for is its surprisingly rich landscape of menhirs, dolmens and other neolithic ruins. Domaine de Palatz takes its name from the word "palets" or "palats" which is an old french and occitan nickname for megaliths.

This region harbours hundreds - if not thousands - of these megaliths. Dating back at least 3,000 years, and arranged with mysterious pattern and purpose, there are many of these sites around our property, some even within walking distance. Come stay with us and explore these ancient relics from the dim mists of prehistory!
